Contact & service details
ClanBite is a family meal planner and home food business platform. You can reach us at contactus@clanbite.in. This page is the privacy policy for the ClanBite website (clanbite.in) and the ClanBite app.
Where your information is kept
When you start a planner, ClanBite makes one Google Sheet in your Google Drive. Your meals, dishes, rules, people, recipes and, if you use the home business tools, your orders, clients, bills and prices are saved only there. If you switch the home business on, ClanBite makes a second private sheet in your Drive for it. You decide who in your family can open the planner. Nobody at ClanBite opens or reads it.
What ClanBite asks Google for, and why
| Permission | What ClanBite uses it for |
|---|---|
| Your Gmail address (email) | To know which planner is yours and who is in your family. We do not read your emails. |
| Google Drive files made or chosen for ClanBite (drive.file) | To make your planner as a Google Sheets file and to read and write it, and to open a planner shared with you or a Google Sheets link you paste. ClanBite can open only those files. |
| Files ClanBite makes (Google Drive, only files it creates or you choose) | To read a photo of a list or rate card that you choose to upload, then delete that copy straight away. This permission does not let ClanBite see your other Drive files. |
| Connect to other websites (external requests) | To read a recipe link you paste, to find a chef's recipes on YouTube, to fetch new dish ideas from a public recipe database (TheMealDB), and to use your own Google AI key if you add one. |
ClanBite's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We use Google data only to give you the features you see in ClanBite.
- We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
- We do not allow people to read it, except when you ask us for support and agree, when needed to follow the law, or to keep the service secure.
- We do not transfer it to anyone else, except: when you use an AI feature with your own key, the dish names or text it needs are sent to that AI service (Google Gemini) only to give you the answer; and when you invite family members, ClanBite shares your planner sheet with the Gmail addresses you choose.
What the ClanBite team can see
Only a short list for running the early-access test: each Gmail that signs in, its family planner's name, its role (admin, editor or view only), whether the home business is switched on, and the first and last day it visited. Plus usage totals, for example "Auto-Plan used 12 times". We also see, for each Gmail, whether it made or joined a planner, added dishes and planned a meal; short error messages with no names in them, so we can fix problems; totals of phones, computers, browsers and screens opened; and the invite codes with the planner each one opens. We never see your meals, dishes, people, recipes, orders, bills or money. Google's own run log for the app also shows the project owner which Gmail used ClanBite and when; Google keeps it for a short time.
How ClanBite protects your data
- Your data stays in your own Google Drive. ClanBite does not keep a copy of your planner, meals, recipes, clients, orders, bills or money on any ClanBite server or database. They are saved only in the Google Sheets files in your Drive, which Google protects with its own encryption and security.
- ClanBite can open only the files it needs. The permission ClanBite asks for (drive.file) lets it open only the files it made for you, or a file you choose in Google's own file window. It cannot see, list or search the rest of your Drive.
- Signing in is done by Google. ClanBite never sees your Google password. After you sign in, Google gives ClanBite a pass that lasts about an hour. It is kept only in your own browser, and signing out clears it.
- Everything travels over secure connections. The ClanBite website and every request between your browser, ClanBite and Google use HTTPS, so what is sent cannot be read on the way.
- You decide who in your family can see or change the planner. Each person is an admin, an editor or view only, and ClanBite checks that role again on the server every time someone tries to save a change. Only the planner's admins can add or remove people.
- The ClanBite team cannot open your planner. The project owner has no access to your Drive files. The short list the team sees (described above) holds no meals, clients, orders or money, and it is kept in the ClanBite project's Google account, which is protected with 2-Step Verification.
- Your own AI key stays yours. If you add a Google AI key, it is kept in your own Google account's ClanBite settings and is never shown to anyone else.
- Nothing is sent that is not needed. Messages the app sends to other services (a recipe link you paste, YouTube, the public recipe site, your own AI key) carry only what that feature needs, never your Gmail address, your planner or your business records. Error messages kept for fixing problems contain no names.
- You can take everything back at any time. Remove ClanBite's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or delete the files from your Drive. Nothing stays behind in ClanBite's hands.
- If something goes wrong. If we ever learn that information about you held by ClanBite has been seen by someone it should not have been, we will tell the people affected by email as soon as we can, and in any case within 72 hours of finding out.
Optional AI features
Some features use an AI service, and they work only if you add your own Google AI key: AI Dish Scan, reading recipes and videos, and understanding rules and allergies you type. When you use them, the dish names, text, photo or video the feature needs are sent to that AI service (Google Gemini) with your key, only to get the answer. That AI service's own terms apply to what it receives. Your key is kept in your own Google account's settings for ClanBite and is never shown to anyone else.
Anonymous usage counts
ClanBite may use Google Analytics to count visits, screens opened, whether people use a phone or computer, and a rough location. It does not use cookies: it keeps a random visitor number on your device instead, and never sends your Gmail, meals or any of your data. You can switch Google Analytics off in ClanBite, under How to use ClanBite, with "Share anonymous usage". The ClanBite usage totals above are kept either way.
What stays on your device
To avoid asking you to sign in again, your browser keeps, on your own device only, which Gmail signed in last, a sign-in pass that lasts about an hour and, if you share anonymous usage, the random visitor number. Some screens are also kept on your device so they open faster. Signing out clears the pass.
How long we keep things
Your planner and business sheets stay in your Drive until you delete them. Our own short list (Gmail, planner name, role, visit days) is kept while you use ClanBite and is deleted when you ask us to.
Delete your data and stop using ClanBite
- Delete your planner sheet, and your business sheet, from your Google Drive. Your data is then gone.
- Remove ClanBite's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Email contactus@clanbite.in and we will delete your Gmail from our list within 30 days. If you open ClanBite again afterwards, it is added again.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain if you are not happy, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and similar laws. Write to contactus@clanbite.in. We reply within 7 days.
Children
ClanBite is meant for adults. A parent may add family members to their planner by name. ClanBite does not ask children for their own accounts and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Nothing is sold
ClanBite has no ads and never sells or rents your information.
